Cervical Cancer

Hi,

Glad things are going well! Keep moving forward but listen to your body and rest when you need to. I was pretty tired after treatments but I also had spent 10 days in the hospital prior to starting due to a bleeding event. They started radiation and chemo in the hospital  to stop the bleeding, so that was a good thing.  Keep us posted - you got this!

Hello Laura,

I know this is an old post but I could really do with someone to talk to, I've been for a coloscopy today and the doctor saw what she said was very suspicious with a high risk of it being cancer, she said there was a nasty infection there as well, she sat me down I was in total shock, she did the biopsy and said the cells just fell away, I need mri and ct to see if it has spread, I'm so frightened, the only symptoms I've had is a few spots of blood on the toilet roll, and a bit of pelvic pain , I'm frightened to death x

Oh Dawnann, we’ve spoken before but I’m so sorry you’ve had such a difficult day. No wonder you are frightened. But those of us who have been through this before will try and help support you if we can. xx

The mri and CT will give a good picture of what’s going on. I assumed at first that my cancer would have spread, but it hadn’t, so try not to assume the worst just yet. Cervical cancer is treatable at all stages, and the treatment is very standard at all stages, so no matter what-there will be a treatment plan. I’ve been through a lot of treatment, and surgeries, so if I can help at all, I’m happy to do so if I can.xx

Hi Dawn,

I understand that this is a frightening time but you are doing the right thing in taking care of your health. Like Minska said, cervical cancer is treatable. Take it one day, one appointment, and one treatment at a time, if it comes to that. You can do it! Let us know how you do.

Hi Dawn,

I'm in a similar position to you. Waiting for an MRI. Seems the guidance is 2 weeks wait max, then 2 weeks for results.

I was told my diagnosis today, cancer for sure, but not telling me the grade..... worrying.

Let's keep fingers crossed it hasn't spread.

Xxx

Hi Rachel

Welcome-I’m sorry to hear you’ve had this diagnosis, I know how horrible it is to hear those words.  It’s not that they are not telling you the stage of cancer at this point-the doctors won’t know this until scans establish the size and location of the tumour. Grade would refer to the level of cell abnormality within the tumour, but the stage is the most important thing to establish to decide on the treatment plan going forward-typically whether the stage is early and can be dealt with by a hysterectomy, or whether the treatment will need to be chemo and radiation. The toughest time is waiting for scans, results and a plan.  xx

Best wishes Rachel. I've got my appointment with gynae at 11am and with the pains and what the doc saw, I just know deep down what I'll hear.
