Together we will beat cancer

Hi all,

This is the first time I'm posting on the forum but I have used it many times before, for guidance during a very difficult time. My mum was diagnosed with endometrial carcinosarcoma. Lots of research has given me a sad and negative conclusion of this rare and aggressive cancer.

Obviously the cancer diagnosis is shocking and difficult - my mum had a hysterectomy on Dec 17 and then chemo, radiotherapy and brachytherapy. Today we found out that after a bowel blockage of the small intestine and some major surgery, the intestine they removed, and she the cause of the blockage, was the cancer. What I find SO much more shocking is how little anyone actually knows about this cancer. I'm doing some fundraising this year and trying to find a charity that supports patients and helps with research but I cannot find anything!!!??? Only one charity in the US but nothing in the UK.

someone please tell me I'm wrong and that there is something out there. I would like my money to go toward this specific cancer.

Very sad and deflated.

Welcome to Cancer Chat, MAC-K.

I'm sorry to hear you're feeling sad and deflated which is easy to understand given your mum's situation.

As for your initiative of doing some fundraising I can only applaud you for that and I was wondering if this page of our website could be of help? It is called 'Do your own fundraising' and there I hope you will find many ideas which could serve as a source of inspiration.

Stay strong, MAC-K and remember we're here to listen whenever you need a chat.

All the best,

Renata, Cancer Chat Moderator
