Cancer lump on breast?

I've had this on my breast for a little while. It's on the right underside of my breast near the nipple and blood comes out if I squeeze it? Is this cancer?

  • Please make an app to see your go it may be nothing but better safe than sorry xx

  • Hi Hun. It's very important you get this checked out. It may be nothing but it's not worth the risk to leave it. Xx

  • Hello, as others have already said please make an appointment to see your doctor asap, I don't wish to frighten you anymore than you feel already and it might be nothing untoward or if so early stage. I say this as nearly 4 years ago I had a slight pink patch in my areola and my nipple was dry but I put it down to leaning over my disabled son alot changing nappies and getting his wind up etc so my nipples tend to rub on the seam in my bra. I've ajwats had what I call a lazy nipple on my right breast and thought it's a blocked milk duct , I'm going back 20 years there and when I had my son nearly 16 years ago I cluidnt express milk properly on my right breast.

Anyway fast forward I'm 50 this year..

After the pink patch I visited nurse I asked for antibiotic cream..she was reluctant but allowed it, she examined me fur lumps etc and saud she cluidnt find anything but to go back in a months time..

Anyway I dudnt due to my sons care and it seemed to settle, my nipple dud retract in slightly and when COVID first hit I had like you blood underneath the nipple a warm bath set it off.

Then it calmed down again.. due to COVID and shielding and my son and family being vulnerable and me being terrified with COVID etc I left it, I thought I'd got an abcess. Still no lump maybe a bit hard behind the nipple, but got shooting sensations but I did have that in both breasts so thought hormonal.

Anyway fast forward and over the last 10 months or so ihad had the bleeding on and off then I thought I had pus coming out iebded up with a scan on nipple but again thought infection.. then I got a massive scab until that fell off and dudnt rescab by this time the whole if nipple and areola went in , I started with terrible pain but just once a month , theni got pus etc and then I noticedy lymph nodes had come up under arm,, so I asked for some antibiotics stupid saud I had a tooth abcess , trued to treat it myself , the antibiotics seem to calm the pain a bit and lessen the pus .

The whole if my breast ended up hard and then I crumpled basically toldy family rang dictir straight away she saw me and saud something more sinister was going on behind the infection..gave me the right antibiotics to cjear that up which it dud but lymph nodes still hard , she sent me urgently on the 2 week pathway and they examined me and dud a biopsy

And they said I had a locally advanced tumour with fungating wound and spread to lymph nodes.

I've just had a CT scan to check for spread to liver and currently waiting results.

Like I said I'm.nkt wishing to frighten you and can be an infection but pleas don't leave it , if you go now and find it is suspicious you've got a better chance if treatment

I wish you all the best xx

  • Hello Sally199696 and thanks for posting,

I'm afraid no one here on Cancer Chat can tell you what is causing this lump or the bloody nipple discharge. Only a doctor can diagnose (say what is the matter) and they might need to arrange some tests before they can be sure. In the NHS, GPs can refer people to breast clinics for further assessment if needed.

As others here have said, it is really important to get things like this properly checked out to be on the safe side. There could be other possible explanations aside from cancer, but the only way to be sure is to see your doctor.

Some people find the thought of cancer so scary, they put off seeing the doctor for fear of what might be the matter. If this is you, try and overcome these feelings, take it one step at a time and make an appointment. Sometimes seeing the doctor can give you some peace of mind, but if cancer is causing someone's symptoms, the sooner it is picked up the sooner treatment can start if it is necessary. And it tends to be better to get on with treatment for cancer when it is needed.

Give us a ring if you want to talk anything over. Our number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are around weekdays, 9-5.

    Wishing you the best,

  • Just thought I'd come back to confirm. So I had a raised bump on my breast (lower inner quadrant). It was under the skin and red/painful. It ended up being a breast abcesses (infected cyst). This was confirmed during an ultrasound
