Can anyone advise please

My dad has just had unsuccessful surgery for bladder cancer. The cancer has been found to have spread to the liver and bones.

Also have now discovered (2 weeks after surgery) the bowel is kinked over the stoma. So he cannot eat or drink anything.

They will not operate to unkink bowel as say this is too risky.

Now i need to get him home but they say he cannot come home with iv feed. So he has to come home to starve to death or stay in hospital for his last weeks without even being able to drink a cup of tea, which he finds unacceptable.

I cannot comprehend the choices we have.Anyone else in this situation, I 'm just lost. Thanks

  • Hi there ...

Sorry for your dilema ... it is a no right or no wrong situation .. but if it were me , I think I'd try for a hospice .. that way he still gets their help, and you can visit as much as you want .. ask your G Ps or oncology team as to what to do and what your choices are 're a hospice ...

Fingers crossed you get the help you need.... Chrissie x
