Bucket list of things to say and do with my dad, time short.

So for the last 5 days dad has been in delirium. Only diagnosed a week ago out of the blue.

Today  he is back mentally but i dont know how long for. Been told to expect to lose him at any time although prognosis is 8-12 weeks but his risk of stroke is high due to other conditions.

He is coming home to me in next day or so to live with me for whatever time he has left.

                 In your experience.

What should our bucket list be together and as a family in the time we have left :)))))

  • I had all sorts of ideas of things we would do with dad, but the reality is he is more and more tired and the energy just isn’t there which I guess is the case for most.

Right now we are just concentrating on the being, being together, hugging, saying I love you and talking. Savouring every minute. X

  • Hello JulieRosie; sorry to learn abour your dad's condition.  When my mum was dying from cancer in 1984 we let her guide what she wanted to say and do.  She wasn't worried about dying.  There may be things your dad wants to talk about.  Remember he is still your loving dad and not just a cancer patient; he may still be interested in hearing about hings he has always liked.    For your family it is of course a great sorrow but just ensure your dad feels surrounded by love and care.  I guess I am saying "play it by ear".  t  Annie
