Bruise on toenail?

28 Dec 2017 05:01

Guys, I noticed a bruise when I removed my nail varnish so not sure how long it has been there.  I’ve been keeping an eye on it and I think it may have moved up the toenail slightly so could be growing out but not sure? Any advice would be appreciated.

I would get this checked by your GP ASAP - this board can't be used to help diagnose as no one here is qualified to do that, but there is plenty of support here and others are great at sharing their stories of similar symptoms / diagnoses / treatments

Let us know what the GP says. All the best.

Hi Msky

I'm not a doctor and as Tad85 says, no one here is qualified to give you a diagnosis.

I agree with Tad85 - you should get this checked out by your GP.

I'm someone who hates wearing shoes, so I've accumulated my fair share of nail bruises over the years, but since I'm a bloke I can't cover them with nail polish Sad

These things happen, particularly if you workout, or you're on your feet a lot, or like me you go barefoot about the house. Sometimes there's no one big trauma that you can remember, but simply an accumulation of little traumas. Most of the time the bruise grows out and everything is fine, but rarely infection can set in, or the nail fails to grow properly, and in extreme cases you can lose the nail - which is something you don't want if you like to show off your painted nails.  That's why it's wise to see your GP, even though the chances are he or she will just say everything is fine.
