Breast pain and lump

Hello

I have been suffering  sensitive breasts and nipples, armpit pain, arm pain, sore shoulder, pain in chest and pain down side of breast and underneath for 9 weeks. My breasts feel on fire.

My gp thought  it was muscular and i tried various medications which didnt help. I saw another gp last friday and she found a lump in my left breast and im being fast tracked to the breast clinic. I'm terrified i have breast cancer due to my mym being diagnosed last year. I suffer from anxiety and its awful just now.

How quick is referral due to covid 19.

Im really scared im only 33.

Thank you xx

  • Hello Allison23455,

You did the right thing in going to see another GP last Friday and it's good that they are being thorough in getting this investigated by the breast clinic. As you've been fast tracked, fingers crossed that it won't be too long for you to be seen by someone.

In the meantime, try and keep busy and distracted and focus on other things if you can. There is always the temptation while waiting to go on Google and do online research, but this will only exacerbate your anxiety and make you feel worse whilst not providing any meaningful answers.

I hope that you will hear from other ladies here who have been in this situation before and that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out to be fine!

    Best wishes,

  • Hey Allison,

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling anxious and have to wait a while it's a terrible wait whenever you're worried about a health issue. I currently have been having health issues but recently been told my a doctor at my local hospital that things are going back to normal very soon in regards to the nhs and waiting times so hopefully you are seen sooner than later.

I also suffer from anxiety and I know this is easier said than done but try and think for now that it is nothing and go on with your day to day things as you normally would. Because as of this stage we dont know if its cancer it may be something benign, very common to get painful lumps that are not cancerous. Ive also recently been taking 'be calm' herbal tablets from superdrug that are meant to help relieve anxiety.

I hope and pray that you will be seen soon and that it turns out to be nothing x
