I'm 27 with a family history of stomach issues, 7 months ago I was cooking when I felt something go wrong inside on my left! It felt like period cramps. I was also bleeding with visible haemorrhoids. The A&E team were great! Blood tests, tummy scan, stool sample and a stay overnight, I've been booked for a sigmoidoscopy next week.
My GP suggested IBS and put me on the FODMAP diet, it worked, I've always had food sensitivities and have health problems that could relate to this (POTS Syndrome, fibromyalgia, arthritis and Raynaud's). The bleeding stopped and the haemorrhoids went away with ansol.
Then, pain exploded on my right side! I was told it was a kidney stone as there was blood in my urine, the pain eventually got better and I had more scans that showed nothing.
The pain is now predominantly on my right and I'm worried, I've had a bad stomach ache for several days but haven't eaten anything I shouldn't.
Will a sigmoidoscopy pick up right side problems since it only scans the left? Will it be enough?
I should add that January before last I had COVID, non-stop illness since then and a lot of stress at home triggering flare ups!
