Borderline ovarian tumor diagnosis

Yesterday I was told I have had 5 cysts removed from my ovaries. All of the cysts contained cancer cells. I am in a complete state of shock. It's not spread anywhere however there is now talk of me having a full hysterectomy I am 26 with one child and was ready to have another. I feel like my whole life has been ruined

  • Hello Meganw18,

I am so sorry to hear you have found out these 5 cysts which were removed from your ovaries contained cancer cells. It's completely understandable that you are in a state of shock at the moment and that you didn't expect to be told you would potentially need to have a hysterectomy at such a young age.

I can imagine you have lots of questions racing through your mind at the moment and try if you can to get in touch with your doctor and ask them what is on your mind, for example whether there will be ways for you to have more children. Make sure you do tell them you were thinking of having another child so that they give you a clear idea of what your options are.

If you would like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, don't hesitate to give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm

It's good news though that it has not spread anywhere and I hope you get to meet your medical team soon so that they give you all the information you need and answer any questions you may have at this stage.

Hopefully other forum members who have had a similar experience before will be along shortly to share their story with you.

    Best wishes,
