Hi, i had a bone scan yesterday and I was able to watch the monitor with a count down clock of how long it takes and also see the images of the scan on the screen. I'm really worried as when it scanned my pelvic area I could see 3 really bright white images, it looked like it was my ovaries and pelvis (sort of a triangular pattern) but why did they show as bright white?! I've stupidly googled this and these white images or 'hot spots' can, amongst other issues, be cancer related, now I'm worried sick. My mum has had cancer twice in her kidney and lung and she is a survivor, I'm worried now that I'm next. Don't know if it means anything but these white images looked equal in size. I've been told I have to wait at least a week before ringing my doctor for the results. Has anyone ever had a bone scan and seen images like this? I'd be grateful of any feed back, many thanks and take care everyone.

Hi Billy, did you see the images yourself? What I saw were not little dots they were 3 large round, well organ type looking images but they were bright white. Do you know if organs show up on bone scans as it looked like it was my ovaries. I think I'm kind of grabbing at straws here. Hope you don't mind me asking but did you have any symptoms before you went for this bone scan?

Thanks

Jo

Hi and thanks for your post

Waiting for these sorts of results is really stressful, and can really raise your anxiety, especially as your mum has had cancer.

However, no one can say what your bone scan will show .Lots of people try to interpret what they are seeing on a screen, but unless you have been trained, it just isn't possible to work out what the images are showing.

You may be interested in reading the information on our link to bone scans here.

Try and not google as it really won't tell you what your scan showed and also, do bear in mind that everyone has different experiences and cannot tell you what is going on for you.

Keep busy and hopefully you 'll get your results soon.

All the best

Wanda

Hi Wanda

Thanks so much for your reply. I have been feeling quite sick with worry. Some people describe hot spots as dark colours others say they are bright white it's all so confusing. As you said no one seems to be able to have a definite interpretation, so I have kind of resigned myself to waiting, however trying to shake off this feeling of doom is hard. I did wonder if it was bad news that my doctor may ring me sooner rather than later. I was told to ring my doctor in a bout a week for the results.

Thank you for the link also that was interesting to read.

Kind regards

Jo
