Biopsy and pain due to lump

9 Mar 2018 00:37

Hi there,

I've been absolutely stressed out these past few weeks due to what I think may be a cancerous lump in my throat. I have a biopsy tomorrow which is the third (and hopefully final) test in the past few months. Hopefully I'll know for sure what the deal is and whether I have throat cancer - the doctors said they couldnt make out with the endoscopy which I recently had so that got me even more worried...

I wanted to ask whether anyone else has experienced intense to relatively dull (it oscillates between the two) neck pain, just by the side of the neck moving toward the shoulder, as a result of a lump or cancerous tissue in the neck/throat? I'e been experiencing this pain for a couple of months now which resulted in me having all these tests. I think they just want to rule everything out but I havent found much information online about the neck/shoulder pain specifically. There are no lumps on the neck iteslf.

I'm quite worried about the biopsy. Does anyone know how long it generally takes to recieve the verdict?

Thanks in advane for your reply. x

Hi b-singh,

I notice that this is your first post on the forum so I extend a very warm welcome to Cancer Chat.

I am sorry that I cannot help with your questions. I just noticed that nobody had replied to you yet and wanted to wish you all the best for your appointment tomorrow.

I have had two bouts of breast cancer and didn't find the biopsies too bad at all. I understand that it can be different for different areas of the body, so I hope that someone who has had the same procedure will come along soon  and put your mind at rest.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you whenever you want to talk.

Kind regards,

Jolamine xx
