Being a good friend

Hi there, not sure if this is the right forum but my best friend had thyroid cancer a couple of years ago and had it removed. She has had to have a couple of biopsies recently and is naturally petrified that the cancer is back. How do I be a good friend and support her while she wait results, I feel so utterly useless?

  • Oh bless you, Cazzeroo, for trying to be such a good friend.  I am sure others will have good suggestions but for what it is worth:  Listen to your friend; don't tell her not to worry - she will be worried.  Try to distract her by all means by taking her out on little trips or whatever she wants to do.  Treat her as the person she has always been - she hasn't become a different person because she is waiting for the results of biopsies.   That is just a few starters I have learned from family and friends over the years.  Annie
