Hi Sue,

I hope you don't mind me asking - do you happen to know the name of this orange flower/plant? I have exactly the same one in my front garden which I am very proud of. For ages it wasn't flowering, it just looked like a very plain plant and now I have those gorgeous orange flowers. But I can't find any information as to what it's called!

Sorry about this gardeners' question time!

Well, that was easier than I thought! They are Orange Day Lilies or Hemerocallis Fulva, to give them their latin name. They don't flower for very long but are quite spectacular when they do and are useful ground cover for the rest of the year. I cut mine right down to the ground after flowering although I'm not sure if this is right thing to do, not being at all green fingered, but they seem to thrive on it so I carry on regardless!  Sue

Hi Sue, I thought I was in my garden when I saw your lovely picture!!  I had always known them as Day lilies and they spread each year.  Having read the rest of the posts now, I also chop mine to ground level at the end of the flowering season and they do not seem to mind. Your garden  looks lovely.Jules x

Yes Sue, I am indeed in front of the tv and just popped on my 'mail' due to the rain delay! Now it seems as though they will be back out shortly and no roof just yet. It's actually pouring with rain in Middlesex just now so think there may be a few interruptions and a lot more excitement before the match ends. Enjoy the rest of your day. Jules x
