Armpit pain.

I'm just looking for a bit of advice or if anyone has experienced the same as me.

Around 10 weeks ago I was having burning pain in my right breast and armpit. I've been to the breast clinic and they did an ultrasound of my boob and said there was just a bit of swollen glandular tissue but nothing abnormal. I KEEP getting this pain in my right arm pit that feels like it's constantly bruised and lumpy. The doctors just seem to brush it off every time and I never seem to get any answers. Has anyone experienced the same or similar?! I feel like I'm at a loss and constantly worrying about it.

  • Hi,

My symptoms were the same as yours but I've also got a lump in my armpit which is why I went to the breast clinic last Wednesday. My mammogram was clear but they have done a biopsy on the lump.

  • Thanks for your reply - I feel like I have a few lumps in my armpit but they don't seem concerned by it at all. It's just strange that the pain is intermittent. It's just frustrating to never get an answer!

  • Hi,

My pain comes and goes. I felt the lump in April but thought it was just hormonal as it came along with my cycle. I'm 42 now and had started getting bad symptoms when my period was due and put it down to getting older.  The consultant said I've migrating breast tissue in my armpits which is why the actual armpit may swell up with my period.

The lump which I thought was a single lymph node is actually not. The ultrasound tech could not get a good position on the ultrasound so they have done a biopsy. She said she couldn't see if it was a cyst attached to muscle or a lump in the migrated breast tissue. I get my results on Thursday!

  • Ah I see! I'm hoping mines nothing and it seems SO hard for them to take it seriously. But I guess if they were worried they would've done further tests? I went to the breast clinic and they literally only did an ultrasound nothing else.  Thank you for sharing that information, hope everything goes well for you. Let me know how you get on! ️

  • Yes I'm sure they would have done more tests if they were worried. It's probably hormones and you get the burning in your armpit as well because of the breast tissue there.

My mammogram was clear they said which is good. But I still have this lump in the armpit which they obviously were worried about or they would not have biopsied. Just hoping it is a cyst now!

  • Hope all is good!

im going through the same thing. Had a small lump in my left armpit but it went within two weeks (this was three-months ago)

but ever since. I've had upper left breast pain that raidates through my nipple and armpit.

horrid.  Got my appointment in the Breast clinic in a weeks time but it's just keeping me up at night.

  • All good, thank you! Hope you are too.

To be honest I am still dealing with the everyday pain in my right breast and lump under my armpit. It's low down on my breast so almost feels like it comes from the rib area and also radiates to the nipple.
After my ultrasound showing nothing I'm just trying to keep positive and I guess it's nothing, otherwise they would've referred me for more tests.

I rang the doctors yesterday as I was still worried, but to be honest she wasn't helpful and said I must've strained a muscle by doing some everyday activities.. I'm not sure how that muscle would still be strained after a year but never mind!
I believe I have non-cyclical mastalgia which I'll just treat by ibuprofen tablets and gel when needed :-)

Hope everything goes well at the clinic, I'm sure it will! X
