Armpit lump

Hi All

A bit scared well quite a lot really, after 2 years of scans and a mammogram not finding the lump I can feel I have finally had an ultrasound with a radiologist that found it straight away (either it’s grown or was hiding under a muscle)

anyway report looks quite scary irregular lobulated mass with , vasculation and I’ve been refered to the Sarcoma unit, who now have recommended a biopsy.

a few things ....... how long would that appointment for biopsy take to come ?, will it hurt ?and why the sarcoma unit and not breast clinic?

google has me confused so I’ve give. Up on that  and I understand I must wait which I am willing to do it’s been a long time coming but I’m still scared

thank you for listening to my rambling

.

  • Hi, first off I'm sorry you are having to go through this. I can relate to the fear as I am experiencing it myself. I have been referred for a tongue biopsy after pain in the ear(that antibiotics wouldn't shift), neck and a thickening of the back side of my tongue. I was told they would be in contact within 2 weeks to do the biopsy and I believe that is pretty standard across the board if cancer is suspected. I guess however it all depends on how busy they are.

I was googling as well and all I achieved was scaring myself and convincing myself I am dying. Please try not to Google it will only cause more harm than good.

If you want to read my own post it is entitled Scared. Possible tongue/oral cancer.

  • Hi there. I am waiting for a scan for an armpit lump which has been there for months x

  • It is such a worry, but I’m convinced I have a fatty lump near a nerve as they wouldn’t hurt or cause as much pain as I’m having I’m sure.

Google is a terrible thing , I joked with my sister (as I was close to a nervous breakdown) that by googling my symptoms I came to the conclusion  I could have anything from fat lump to being pregnant with Chiuaua puppies the results of the search were so varied !!

my advice going forward is keep busy , plan my next holiday , try and get fit for the bikini and wait to find out what those who are far more qualified than me decide how to get rid of this lump.

best wishes to you and thank you for your reply sharing is caring x

  • Hi Willow , I was seen very quickly each time so best wishes for your scan.

one bit of advice if I’m allowed to give it is that when I lay down the consultant couldn’t feel the lump, or locate  it on the scan . It showed up when I sat up , arched my back and held my arm out to the side as if I was signally right .

sorry you are also having this worry but it’s best to get it checked to be sure,  we know our bodies x

  • Thanks for your support and advice. I hope that all will be good for you x
  • Hi Willow, Did you ever find out what it was?
