  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to hear about your husband. It does sound like he needs to be reviewed by his doctor (GP).

They can assess him and prescribe some painkillers to help. There are, for example, different medications such as skin patches and slow release formulations. It is also worth getting him checked in case he has a local infection there that may be causing some discomfort.

We do have some information about painkillers on our website,

    www.cancerresearchuk.org/.../painkillers

In the meantime, distraction therapies might help, such as listening to music with headphones, or doing simple activities such as puzzles. Relaxation techniques might help too.

There are some tips on managing pain on this NHS website link here,

    www.nhs.uk/.../

I hope that you are able to get some help soon.

    Best wishes,

    Vanda
