Hi Everyone,

As so many people on here have recently said  how they are struggling trying to cope with grief, I came across this quote and thought I would like to share it with them. It was written by Nicholas Sparks.

"Its possible to go on, no matter how impossible it seems, and that in time, the grief--------lessens. It may not go away completely, but after a time it is not so overwhelming".

Grief is one of those strong emotions that cannot be seen or touched but only felt. That is why others don't always know we are feeling so low and why people don't often get the support they so badly need. That is why this site is so needed for it offers a place for people to come and pour out their grief and know that others will not only understand but will offer help and support.

I wish you all a good and pain free weekend Brian

Hi all,

Great quote as alwways Brian and in a similar vein I found this today:

"You give yourself permission to grieve by recognizing the need for grieving.  Grieving is the natural way of working through the loss of a love.   Grieving is not a weakness, nor absence of faith.  Grieving is as natural as crying when you are hurt, sleeping when you are tired or sneezing when your nose itches.  It is nature's way of healing a broken heart."  Doug Manning

We have to grieve for the people we have lost -- it is essential!  It does take a long time for the grieving process to end and it is also an unfortunate truth that many of us don't truly understand how much someone has meant to us until they are taken away.

Best to everyone!

Thanks for this one Garf. IT makes so much sense when you read it and I am sure all those grieving will find relief in knowing that the emotions they experience are shared by many.Best wishes Jules

Hi folks,

As it is Mothers Day tomorow, I have searched out some quotations which I would like to share with you all. As our mothers played such a big part in our lives I am posting two quotes today and hope to do the same tomorow. The first one today is by Ranjeesh.

"The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother never. A mother is something absolutely new".

Not much I can add to that.

The second quote is I feel very touching. It's by our friend old Anonymous again, which I feel is a great pity.

"A mother understands what a child does not say".

This could be interpreted in so many many, ways. A mother pick up on so many things, that are not mentioned by her child. It maybe bullying at school or that they are worried about something like exams. She also instinctively knows, even if her child does not tell her outright, that they love her. It's almost like a mother has telepathic abilities, and often they even know what we are thinking. We often don't tell our mothers how much we love them enough, and when their gone, we realize it and it makes us feel so bad. I did tell my mother I loved, but not as often as I should have done. For she did so much for me in my life, and is something I was never able to fully repay.

So to all mothers everywhere, I say a collective big Thank you.

Please take care everyone, Brian

Good morning everyone,

And especially mothers everywhere, for you are all very special people.

As today is Mothers Days, I have another two quotations for today for mothers, past and present. The first one is by Carrie Lates and reads:-

"My mum is litteraly part of me. You cant say that about many people except realtives and organ donars".

I like the touch of humour in this one,

The second quotation reminds me so much of my own mother for she would have acted just like this. This quotation is by Tenneva Jordan.

"A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie".

I know for a fact that when I was young, the war was in full swing and my mother often went without things because she had me to look after for food was hard to come by. She never ever told me this herself, it came from other family members over the years.

All mums make sacrifices for their children so for all mums everywhere,

Have a great day today,

and thank you for what you are and what you do,

Hi everyone,

Thank you for continuing the "amazing quotes!"

Well, despite Brian already have cited me, I'm no one for being cited but, this time I would like to share something that I wrote on another place and people liked:

" I learned that statistics lose many arguments for human individuality"

And I guess this chat is a good place to prove it!

Love, Sofia

Good morning all,

Its snowing a little as I am typing this.

Wishingwell, I am pleased those quotes helped you. In a funny sort of way, they helped me too, as Mothers Day is one of the days when I do really miss my mother. For in the past, it enabled me to thank her for all the little things she did for me that meant so much to me, and which also showed me how much she loved me and know I cant do that any more. These days all I can do is to visit her grave put some flowers on her grave and this year my wife had to do this for me as I couldn't walk to the graveside due to my injury. So posting those qoutations were my way of saying thank you to her.

Today's quotation is by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

"No medicine can cure what happiness cannot".

I have learned over the years, happiness is something that can not be bought at any price. We have to work hard to obtain it and often it doesn't come easily. But when we do achieve it, it brings with it a peace of mind which make's it all worthwhile. Since retiring and getting my good result re my prostate cancer, I can honestly say I am the happiest I have ever been. I wish others the happiness I feel.

Hope you all have a good day, Brian

Hi Folks,

Have woke up to fine we have had a lot of snow fall overnight and it's still snowing at the moment. Not sure how deep it is as the wind has blown it into drifts. One end of our hedge has 4" but the other only has 2". At least I don't have to go to Tesco's shopping today.

I have looked for a qoute about snow and came up with this one which made me laugh. Hope you all like it. It by our friend Anonymous once more.

" Snowmen fall from heaven-------Unassembled"

Whoever wrote this must have a good sense of humour. For those of you who have also had snow, please take care if you have to go out.

Best wishes to you all, Brian

Love that quote Brian, it certainly made me laugh.

I received an email from a friend of mine who lives in Western Australia yesterday and he included a photo of him, his girlfriend and some friends camping in some sand dunes on a beautiful sunny day with the calm sea in the background taken just the day before.  I replied with a picture of my car that could just be seen through the snow blizzard with icicles hanging from the bottom of the sill.

Will Summer ever arrive?

Take care,

Hi everyone,

Thought I would like to inject a bit of humour into this thread. I came across this quotation the other day and thought how true it is and it made me smile. I hope it does the same to you. It yet another one by someone called Anonymous and reads:-

"Don't knock the weather. If it didn't change once in a while, nine out of ten people couldn't start a conversation".

We in England do seem to have this habit when talking to strangers of always opening the conversation by talking about the weather. I am just of this as guilty as most people.

Thank goodness for the spell checker on here. I just wrote snile instead of smile, cahange instead on change and Brain instead of Brian.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fancy not spelling my own name right. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!Think I am showing the first signs of senility and need to go and have a lie down in a darkened room.

Take care my friends and have a great weekend, Brian

AHAHAh Brian, I guess "talking abut weather with strangers" is very common around the world !!!!

Oh, and exchange letters in words  is more a thing to type faster on the computer than senility, believe me

Yesterday, during my chemo I read a quote  that Haruki Murakami cited from someone (he didn't mention the author) that I really loved:

"Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional!"Love, Sofia
