6mm nodule on lung..does this mean it’s cancer?

Hi..This isn’t the first time I’ve been here..Last year my hubby had stage 4 throat cancer and got the all clear last September but yesterday he went back for his yearly results to be told they have now found a 6mm Nodule on his left lung and they want him to go for further scans also a brain scan..by the time we got home from hospital the phone rang and appointments started to come through and they wanted all the scans done by the end of July then they phoned back and said they want to bring it all forward and have the scans all done by the 7th of July then today we received 2 calls saying the CT scan on the lung will be done next Thursday and another call to say he has a brain scan booked for Friday..in total he has 5 hospital appointments next week..this is how it was last year when he was diagnosed with throat cancer with all the appointments coming through to quick (I appreciate they are moving quick) but scared on how urgent it is all again..i just feel so numb at the mo’

  • Hello Tina. we have not spoken before but I have done all sorts of searches on this site for anyone with epiglottis cancer which I have been diagnosed with and the only one that came up was your husband.  Was very pleased to hear he got the all clear then this post appeared yesterday, I dont know what to say to support you, the pair of you must be having an awful time.  My thoughts and prayers are with you, keep us posted of his results.  My original surgery was postponed as they saw a suspicious area on my lung but after PET scan Lung team are apparently not overly concerned and want to see another scan in 3 months, so hope yours is similar and its just them being careful.  Take care

  • Hi Guys my husband was diagnosed with epiglottis cancer in nov 18, he finished treatment in Jan this year. A pet scan was arranged earlier than usual as he had a few lumps in his chest , his epglottis and nodes in neck where all free of cancer but the lumps where suspicious so a biopsy was arranged, days before this was due his heart filled with fluid needing an emergency procedure to remove 2 pints of fluid from his heart. We was then informed the fluid they removed contained the squamous cell carcinoma. So weve been told theres not much more they can do, he could have chemo to extend his life but it could make him poorly and probably wouldnt be suitable because of the now heart problems! Back to the hospital tomorrow................ x

  • I am so sorry to hear that, love and thoughts are with you.  What treatment did he have for the Epiglottis, it seems to be quite rare and your story seems to have happened very quickly.  Good luck at the hospital tomorrow.

    Love Mo

  • The pace at the minute is speeding even though i feel like im stood still just watching as it passes me by,, if that makes sense ? Treatment was 6 week of radio and 3 lots of chemo but only had 2 chemos as it was delayed at the beginng due to shadow showing on lung which was treated as an infection. I have a feeling the lungs will be mentioned tomorrow x

  • hi wicks03

I don’t have any experience in the cancer your husband has but I couldn’t read your post and say nothing. I’m so sorry you, your husband and family are having to deal with this. It is such a cruel disease. My mum went through chemo to extend her life and will shortly start this horrible treatment again, with no cure.

I wish your husband, you and your family hope and strength.
