Together we will beat cancer

4 year old with ALL

11 Mar 2018 19:17

Hi -  My daughter who has just turned four got the most awful gift on her birthday - was diagnosed with ALL. She has been through few chemo therapies of the first 29 day cycle.

I would like to connect with parents who are/have been in similar circumstances to share feelings and discuses any challenges we are facing.

Currently, Steroids have been making my girl eat quite a lot and she is hungry all the time. I don’t know how to handle that, she has gained 4 KGs in a week and there’s still 2 more weeks of steroids to go.

Her heart rate is a bit on the lower side (around 62) and I am worried about more issues that may come with this obesity.

TIA

The cure rates for children with ALL is quite high. My 53 year old wife has the same thing and is to undergo a bone marrow transplant after now 10 months of prior treatment. Know that you are not alone and our thoughts and prayers go out to you...
