Can you believe Cancer Chat is 10 years old! This month we are celebrating a whole decade of supporting people affected by cancer.
Our friendly online community has changed quite a bit since we launched it in 2008. I wonder if anyone remembers how the forum looked when it was originally launched?
By the end of the first year the community had around 2,000 members and 7,000 posts. By June 2018 we had welcomed more than 54,000 members and have over 195,000 posts, covering everything from signs and symptoms to coping with loss and everything in between.
In 2015 we relaunched the forum with many more topic areas including general chat areas where people can share anything from pictures of birds and animals to inspirational quotes and humour.
We now have a thriving, supportive and friendly community which is moderated all year round by our wonder team of moderators. They keep the forum safe and are always on hand to welcome new members 365 days a year. We’ve changed a bit over the years too!
Our specialist cancer nurses are also a vital resource for anyone with a question about cancer and have answered more than 3,400 questions in their Ask The Nurses topic area
So, on behalf of us all, I would like to thank everybody who has been part of Cancer Chat over the past decade – we’re proud to be celebrating 10 years of offering invaluable online friendship and support for anyone affected by cancer. I know it is sometimes referred to as ‘the club nobody wants to join’ but I think for most of us there have been times when we’ve been glad to be part of something so caring and inspiring.
Cancer Chat means so much all of us in many different ways, but what does Cancer Chat mean to you? We'd love you to share your memories and thoughts with us here.
