Our chairman

“The Catalyst Club marks the latest stage for me in what has been a long relationship with cancer research.

When I started my first job I began giving a few pounds a month to the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, and then Cancer Research UK.

Over the years my level of donations increased but chairing The Catalyst Club is different because of the responsibility I feel to help make it a success.

It's exciting in a way that simply giving money to charity can't be.

It’s genuinely cutting edge and 'of the moment', building on recent breakthroughs such as the mapping of the human genome. Now we have the opportunity for a great step forward and will see real achievements within five years.

Being a club helps keep members connected and creates a sense of ownership. Part of that comes from working with an impressive team at the forefront of their research, extremely lucid in communicating their ideas and genuinely excited about the potential for progress.

It's a rewarding way of giving something back, so please consider joining me as a Catalyst Club member.”
