London Marathon Facebook Competition 2015 – Terms and Conditions

  1. This Competition is open to confirmed Cancer Research UK Virgin Money London Marathon runners except employees of the Promoter, the prize supplier and anyone else directly connected with the Competition, together with their immediate family members and/or personal partners. The Promoter reserves the right to request evidence of the identity of any entrant.
  2. On or before 5.00pm on Monday 19 January 2015, the Promoter will write a post on the official Cancer Research UK Virgin Money London Marathon Facebook page (the “CRUK VMLM Facebook Page”) posing a question (the “Competition Post”).
  3. To participate in the Competition entrants must write their answer to the question in the comments box of the Competition Post.
  4. The Competition is restricted to one (1) entry and up to one (1) prize per person. There is no charge for entry.
  5. The Competition closes at 11.59pm on Sunday 25 January 2015 (the “Closing Date”) and only entries received by the Promoter by the Closing Date will be entered into the Competition.
  6. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify and remove entries which it determines in its absolute discretion to be racist, sexist, offensive, obscene, defamatory, abusive, insensitive, hateful, upsetting, illegal or otherwise inappropriate in any way.
  7. There will be one prize of a Sweatshop gait analysis and pair of shoes (exact pair to be awarded at the manager’s discretion). Details of the prizes are available at Please note that the winner will be required to claim their prize at their nearest Sweatshop.
  8. The prizes must be accepted as awarded and are non-transferable or convertible to cash or other substitutes.
  9. The prizes are subject to any additional terms and conditions of the prize provider.
  10. The Competition will take place within two days of the Closing Date. The winner will be the person with the closest guess to the correct answer from all entries received by the Closing Date. If more than one person guesses the answer correctly, the winner will be selected at random from those correct guesses. Reserve winners will also be selected in case the original winner cannot be contacted or does not provide the necessary information.
  11. The winner will be notified by Facebook message on Tuesday 27 January 2015 and asked to contact the Promoter via email at with their name and postal address. The prize winner will then be asked to collect their prize from their nearest Sweatshop.
  12. If the winner cannot be contacted or fails to respond to communications within five days of notification, the Promoter reserves the right to award the prize to a reserve winner selected as set out above.
  13. The name and home county of the winner will be made available on request via for up to 28 days from Sunday 25 January 2015.
  14. By participating in the Competition, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (which may be amended or varied at any time by the Promoter with or without notice) and by the Promoter’s decisions, which are final in all matters relating to these Terms and Conditions, the Competition and/or the results and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into. Entries not complying with these Terms and Conditions will not be valid.
  15. Applications must be made directly by the person entering the Competition. Third party, bulk and/or automated applications shall not be accepted. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse any entry and/or disqualify a winner if it reasonably believes that there has been a breach of and/or the winner’s conduct is contrary to these Terms and Conditions, or the spirit of the Competition.
  16. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for entries which are lost, corrupted or delayed or which cannot be sent due to technical errors, network, computer hardware, system or software failures and/or interruptions of service or for any reason beyond its control. Proof of sending of an email will not be accepted as proof of receipt by the Promoter.
  17. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for incorrect email addresses or incomplete personal details provided by a winner. Incomplete or corrupt entries or those not complying with these Terms and Conditions will not be valid.
  18. Personal information collected from entrants will be used by the Promoter solely in connection with the Competition and in accordance with the Promoter’s privacy policy at and will not be disclosed to any third party except for the purpose of operating the Competition and fulfilling prizes where applicable.
  19. By entering this Competition, the winner agrees to participate in such promotional activity and material as the Promoter may require.
  20. By entering this Competition, entrants acknowledge that it is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook and agree to release Facebook from any liability in relation to the Competition or its administration.
  21. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts in respect of any dispute arising out of or in connection with them.
