What's it like to volunteer in a Cancer Research UK shop?

Why volunteer in our shops?

We have over 550 charity shops across the UK that rely on volunteers to help raise money for our pioneering research.

As a shop volunteer you’ll be the face of the charity and make a big difference to how the public sees us and the work we do.

You’ll help make our shops a success on the high street, meet new people and get retail experience.

Get an NVQ qualification

We want to support our volunteers in developing their skills wherever we can. In partnership with Derby College, we offer volunteers in England who volunteer 16 hours or more and meet certain criteria the opportunity to get an NVQ in retail-related skills.

You can gain this qualification through hands-on learning, with the support of a local assessor from Derby College. To find out whether you’re eligible for this, please ask your Shop Manager to put you in touch with your local assessor.
