Cancer Research UK is seeking committed individuals to take on the exciting role of supporting the event organisers of an established fundraising event in Marlborough, Wiltshire. This well-established committee have raised over £45,000 a year for Cancer Research UK in their local area through various fundraising events and activities.

Every step we make towards beating cancer relies on every pound, every hour and every person. Be a part of something special by organising a fundraising event to raise awareness and life-saving funds to help beat cancer sooner.

What will you be doing?

The volunteer role would involve you meeting with the friendly committee, contacting and arranging trade stalls, general administration and event organisation, marketing, social media and then being a main point of contact on the day of the event.

The type of person we are looking for:

You will be enthusiastic and motivated, with a local knowledge of your community and a passion for the work of Cancer Research UK. You will generate new ideas, build and maintain effective relationships and deliver a successful fundraising event.

What you can expect from Cancer Research UK:

  • An induction and ongoing support and guidance from your Local Fundraising Manager
  • Advice on how to set up and promote a fundraising event
  • We will reimburse agreed out of pocket expenses

Where will this role be based?

This is a home based role in Marlborough however part of your role will include you being ‘out and about’ in the community e.g. booking venues, sourcing prizes, promoting your event

How much time do you need to commit?

This is a home based role, so can be flexible around our current commitments. Ideally you would be able to donate 3 hours per week of your time and a commitment to attend local meetings (approx. 4 a year).
