Why we need you:
We need a volunteer as soon as possible to provide publishing expertise to the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI). The NCRI has an ‘Adding Value and Impact Toolkit’ which provides support for patients and lay people who are involved in the development of cancer research. You can find this document here.
Your help in reproducing their toolkit will make a vital contribution to the positive impact that patients and those affected by cancer are having on the future of cancer research.
What will I be doing?
Your key task is to convert the existing Word version of the ‘Adding Value and Impact’ document into a more creative/well designed document for publication (using a publishing tool, preferably MS PowerPoint), which can be easily updated in the future.
What skills do I need?
You will have experience in working with publishing tools. You will need to demonstrate the ability to work independently and with others on the projects, including liaising with the current editor and others involved.
What support will we give you?
You will receive an induction and have ongoing access to the editor and NCRI staff.
What benefits can I expect?
- An opportunity to make a vital contribution to supporting documentation that will be used by NCRI consumers and more widely
- Valuable experience of working with NCRI consumers (patient/carer representatives), in relation to Patient and Public Involvement in cancer research
- Valuable experience of working within the charity sector
- The satisfaction of knowing that you are making a difference to the work of Cancer Research UK and its partners
- Travel and other expenses as agreed
Approximately 5 days in total. These can be flexibly arranged, to suit your availability.
Where will I be based?
The NCRI is based at the Angel Building, Islington, London. The work described, however, can be undertaken remotely and we are happy to establish flexible arrangements with you.
How do I apply?
