Why we need you:

On Saturday 19th August, Shine walkers will take over Glasgow city centre for a very special night raising crucial funds for Cancer Research UK.

Having the amazing support and endless enthusiasm of some friendly faces truly makes Shine an unforgettable experience. Join the Shine Volunteer Team and help us to beat cancer sooner.

What will I be doing?

Our pit stops are a support hub for our walkers and we need teams of volunteers to be proactive and compassionate to make sure that walkers feel re-energised to continue taking steps to the all-important finish line.

You’ll be working as a team so whether you’re looking for the opportunity to meet some like-minded people or experience the event alongside friends and family this is a really fun, social and active role to sign up for.

‘The smiles! Every participant was smiling, though some of them weren't when they got to me. They all were when they left and that made it all worthwhile! I'll be back next year!’

 Francis, Pit Stop Volunteer 2016

What benefits can I expect?

  • Cancer is happening right now, join in the satisfaction of knowing that you are making a valuable contribution to life saving research being carried out as we speak.
  • Experience of supporting one of the UK’s leading charities.
  • The chance to meet new people and make new friends.
  • Learn some great new skills and develop your confidence to support personal and career development.

What support will we give you?

We’ll be with you every step of the way sending monthly updates and exclusives in the lead up to the event. Three weeks before the event, we’ll confirm all the details with you and give you a call to make sure you’re happy and answer any questions.

At the event you’ll receive a unique volunteer t-shirt by your volunteer manager along with a briefing to instruct you on your role. They’ll also be there to offer any support throughout your time with us.
