Patient Representative - Can physical activity help us prevent cancer?
We're running a workshop for researchers and people affected by cancer. It's an opportunity to help us come up with new research ideas, and we want you to get involved!
Opportunity deadline: Sunday 30 April
Opportunity date: Sunday 25 June
Payment and expenses: We will pay £240 for the three days that the patient representative attends the workshop. All catering will be provided for the three days and the evening meal on the 25th. Accommodation will be provided.
We're running a 3 day workshop for a diverse range of researchers, community groups, and people affected by cancer as part of our Cancer Research UK/BUPA Foundation Cancer Prevention Initiative. You can help us to develop new research ideas that take into consideration the experiences of people affected by cancer and also share your opinion to influence our funding decisions by coming along as a patient representative.
The workshop will focus on 'physical activity', to develop new research into health behaviour change for cancer prevention. During the workshop all the attendees will have the chance to work together to develop new research ideas, and then to pitch for funding. Successful project teams are awarded up to £20,000 funding for 1 year pilot projects that could be developed into full-scale funding applications.
Why we need you
We're looking for two people affected by cancer to attend the full three days of the workshop as patient representatives. You'll also be part of the funding panel to help us make the funding decisions. At the workshop you will be supported by CRUK staff.
When we need you
The workshop will take place 25-28 June, at the Oxford Belfry near Oxford.
To find out more about the workshop and how you could get involved, email firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll send you a role description, and more information. You can also find out more about the exciting projects that have been funded in the past on our webpage.
