Event Volunteer - Swimathon - Friday 27th April to Sunday 29th April 2018
Why we need you:
During the past 30 years, Swimathon would not have been possible without volunteers giving their time to help out at each event across the UK. Volunteering at your local pool is a great way to show your support to Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie as well as your local community or friend and family that are taking part.
A swimathon session lasts for 3 hours, we would like you to volunteer for one Swimathon session over the weekend of Friday 27 April to Sunday 29 April. You are able to volunteer at more than one session if you would like.
What will I be doing?
- Helping with registering swimmers
- Lap counting
- Medal and cap distribution
- Supporting and encouraging swimmers
For more details please see guide here: https://swimathon.org/files/documents/Swimathon18-Volunteer-Guide.compressed.pdf
What skills do I need?
The main skill you will need to be a Swimathon volunteer is to have a smile on your face and the will to encourage swimmers who are taking on their challenge.
What support will we give you?
Swimathon will share your details with the local venue organiser. The local organiser on the day at the venue will give you your briefing and allocate your role. They will also give you a Swimathon t-shirt to wear.
What benefits can I expect?
- A chance to meet residents of your local community
- A change to encourage swimmers to complete their challenge
- The opportunity two support two great causes, Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie
Where will I be based?
The role will be located at a Swimathon venue for a session period of 3 hours. You can search for your nearest location here: https://swimathon.org/about/volunteer.

Every step we make towards beating cancer relies on every pound, every hour and every person. We need you to help us by volunteering. Play a part in this inspiring story and volunteer. Help us to create more tomorrows.
We are committed to giving you the best experience possible and believe that the volunteer relationship is one of honour, trust and mutual understanding.
