Why we need you:

On Saturday 19th August, Shine walkers will take over Glasgow city centre for a very special night raising crucial funds for Cancer Research UK.

Having the amazing support and endless enthusiasm of some friendly faces truly makes Shine an unforgettable experience. Join the Shine Volunteer Team and help us to beat cancer sooner.

What will I be doing?

You’ll be supporting across the 10K course alongside course volunteers to help each and every walker. This will see you cheering walkers as they pass, giving them a helping hand if they need but also crucially keeping moral up amongst fellow volunteers during the event.

As well as a confident cyclist we need great communicators too so if you have your own bike, a helmet and front and back lights for your bike then sign up now and be part of a life-changing team.

‘I had previously run 28 marathons and I know what motivation can do to boost efforts in later stages of that distance.…the Shine Night event is truly one of a kind and I feel honoured and moved to be a part of it.’

Jon, Cyclist Volunteer 2016

What benefits can I expect?

  • Cancer is happening right now, join in the satisfaction of knowing that you are making a valuable contribution to life saving research being carried out as we speak.
  • Experience of supporting one of the UK’s leading charities.
  • The chance to meet new people and make new friends.
  • Learn some great new skills and develop your confidence to support personal and career development.

What support will we give you?

We’ll be with you every step of the way sending monthly updates and exclusives in the lead up to the event. Three weeks before the event, we’ll confirm all the details with you and give you a call to make sure you’re happy and answer any questions.

At the event you’ll receive a volunteer t-shirt and any other kit required to carry out your role. Your volunteer manager will give you a briefing and be there to offer any support throughout your time with us.
