About the event

A local family are inviting local residents and supporters of Cancer Research UK to join them and 100 others for an 8 mile walk starting outside Bath Abbey and walking along the Cotswold Way, amidst beautiful views over Bath and Bristol. In memory of their beloved son, friend, brother and fiance; Dr Mark Sims, who sadly passed away on 19th January 2017 at aged 28. The site map can be found here

About Mark

This walk is to commemorate the last walk Mark was able to do with his Dad Chris in November 2015 before he become too unwell. Dr Mark Sims was a Junior Doctor, who set a target to raise £1,000 from his hospital bed, through his JustGiving page, which has since raised a staggering £180,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Mark was incredibly passionate about cancer awareness and educating others about prevention. Mark was very brave when he spoke about his experience with skin cancer. He started a blog which inspired thousands of people all across the UK:

If you cannot join in on the walk, anyone is welcome for refreshments at The Swan at Swineford at the the end from 2.30pm - 4.30pm. The route is mild to moderate. You can view the route here.
