General Election 2017
Making cancer a priority ahead of the election
What is the campaign about?
On Thursday 8 June there’s going to be a General Election. In the run up to this, we need your support to make sure as many election candidates as possible know about our 2 priorities – health and science.
Why take action in this campaign?
You can make sure cancer remains a priority for the new government so that we achieve our ambition of 3 in 4 patients surviving cancer by 2034.
To improve outcomes for cancer patients, the Government must:
- Reduce the burden on the NHS by tackling the 2 biggest preventable causes of ill health – tobacco and obesity
- Make sure we have enough staff to carry out cancer tests to help diagnose people earlier
- Make sure research is a top priority in Brexit negotiations
When we know who the election candidates are in mid-May, we’ll need your support. For now, you can find out more information on our blog.
