WHSmith and Cancer Research UK are joining forces to raise £1million to celebrate a very special year.
WHSmith have chosen Cancer Research UK as their main charity partner for 2017. This very special year marks the retailer’s 225th anniversary, and to celebrate, they’re aiming to raise an incredible £1million to go directly to funding our vital research to help beat cancer sooner.
They’ve got a huge range of activity planned to support them in reaching this ambitious goal, including selling Unity Bands in store to support World Cancer Day, placing goblets in all stores to collect money from customers, and uniting WHSmith colleagues from across their huge network of over 600 high street and 700 travel stores to fundraise.
The money raised will fund research to save more lives by accelerating Cancer Research UK’s work in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Victoria Floyd, Business Development Manager at Cancer Research UK, said: ‘One in two people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime. Survival has doubled since the early 1970s and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress – but every step our doctors, nurses and scientists take relies on donations from the public and the tireless fundraising of our supporters.
‘We hope that staff and customers join in with the fundraising activities at WHSmith and pledge their support so we can beat cancer sooner.’
Thank you WHSmith!
