The main aim of our research strategy is to reduce the number of people dying from cancer. To do this, we will invest in world-class research that has the potential to improve survival for people with cancer.
Our strategy details how we believe we can make the greatest impact on cancer by ensuring that research discoveries are made and translated into advances in prevention, detection and treatment for cancer as quickly as possible.
We will make investments that will help, not only over this five year period, but also into the future.

Our strategy sets out where we will be focusing our resources over the next five years to work towards improving survival for people with cancer. A key part of this is ensuring we continue to focus our efforts on research of high scientific quality and clinical impact.
Our strategy details how we can provide the right environment to stimulate and drive progress in cancer research. Our strategy means much of our research will be channelled through our five core-funded institutes and Cancer Research UK Centres.
The best scientific research depends on having the best scientific researchers. This means developing the experts of tomorrow, investing in collaborations in the UK and across the world and attracting cancer experts from across the globe.
