- 3. When do I have to send in my sponsorship money?
We appreciate it can be difficult at times to contact your sponsors, but please do try to send in your sponsorship money as soon after the event as you can. We will send reminders six weeks and 12 weeks after each event to help you.
It may be easier to send your sponsorship money to us in instalments – you will receive an acknowledge for each one. Please note that cheques expire after six months, so please send them in as soon as possible.
Please ensure that you send your paying in form (PDF) and ALL sponsorship forms so that we can claim Gift Aid on your donations – this gives us an extra 28p in every £1!

- 6. Can I use an online sponsorship website?
You can create your own online sponsorship page for your event. Online fundraising is the easiest way to raise money, and a simple and fun way for your friends and family to sponsor you.
Top of page- 7. Can I undertake a street collection to raise funds?
To undertake a street collection you must apply for permission in advance from your Local Authority.
If another charity has arranged to collect at the same venue/neighbourhood on the same day, you will have to change your collection date.
Street collection permits are highly sought after. Why not try the following ideas instead?
- Supermarket/shopping centre collections
There may be long waiting lists for collections but they can prove very profitable for fundraising. Apply directly to the local store manager for a collection date. Alternatively, you (and a team of friends) could pack shopping bags for a day, in return for donations. - Pub collections
Put on some fancy dress and collect money in each pub you visit! Please note, you need permission from the manager of each pub where you plan to collect money.
Please do not carry out house-to-house collections when fundraising.

- 8. Can I hold a raffle?
If you wish to organise a raffle it has to be incidental to an exempt entertainment. For example, at a fete, dinner, jumble sale or other charity event.
Otherwise, you will need to register the raffle with your Local Authority in advance of selling tickets.
Basic raffle regulations
There are a few regulations but there are no restrictions on the cost of the ticket. Therefore, depending upon the raffle prizes you have obtained, you can charge £1 or £50 per ticket! However, please note that:
- Tickets can only be sold at the event (use cloakroom tickets for the raffle).
- You must spend no more than £250 on the prizes (not a problem as you should aim to have as many of the prizes donated as possible).
- No cash or money prizes are permitted.
- The proceeds must only go to the charity.
