About Run for Moore
Run for Moore 2009 - a great success
A fantastic 1,567 men assembled on Blackheath Common on Saturday 5 July to run 5k and raise money to help beat bowel cancer.
How it all started
Run for Moore was established in 2006 in order to help raise funds through a series of 5k events for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK's research into bowel cancer.
This year, the event was held at the Blackheath Common, London our most successful venue to date.
Our achievements
Since 2006 Run for Moore has:
- Had over 8,000 runners take part.
- Raised over £670,000 for bowel cancer research.
- Helped save thousands of lives.
All the money raised from Run for Moore goes directly to the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK's research into bowel cancer, a disease which affects over 36,500 people each year in the UK.
Former Arsenal and England goalkeeper David Seaman MBE is the patron for Run for Moore and took part in our 2006 event at Blackheath London. He says:
"I had a great time taking part in Run for Moore. It's fantastic to see so many guys having fun, whilst doing something positive for a good cause."
