'Donation Station' is an activity that you can run throughout the year, to add a bonus to your Relay team's fundraising total.
Friends, family and colleagues donate bags of unwanted items to your Donation Station collection point, which can then be sold in a Cancer Research UK shop.
Every bag counts
Just four bags can be worth around £100 and in 2008, each Relay team raised on average £917 worth of stock for our shops.
The value of your items will be added as a bonus on top of what your team has already raised. Please note that Donation Station is an extra activity rather than a substitute for your Relay fundraising.
We recently updated part of the Donation Station process to make it easier to manage, this is outlined in a flow chart. Or if you are new to Donation Station simply follow the instructions below.
How to run a Donation Station:
- Start by ordering a Donation Station pack to make your Donation Station easy and fun to organise. This contains a step-by-step guide, posters and donation bags.
- Choose a location for your Donation Station collection point. It can be run anywhere that a group of people get together for example, a workplace, a gym, a community club or supermarket.
- Promote your Donation Station using the materials provided in your pack.
- Ask everyone to return their bags of donations to your collection point (rather than directly to a Cancer Research UK shop) so that every bag counts towards your results.
- Sit back and watch the bags roll in!
- Then drop the bags off at a Cancer Research UK shop or if you have over 20 bags of donations, you can request a van driver collection details of how to book a collection are provided in your Donation Station pack.
- Either way please make sure you complete the form (PDF, 750KB) included in the pack and get the Stock Collector or Shop Manager to fill in their section.
- Send the form to your Relay Team Captain who will collate and total all the collections for your team.
Good luck and have fun!
