Talk Cancer workshops are down-to-earth, positive and hands-on, giving trainees the tools and confidence to make the most of conversations about cancer with people in their local area.

We run open-access Talk Cancer and Talk Cancer: Train the Presenter workshops around the UK. Places can be booked individually, so they’re ideal for smaller groups or solo trainees.

The cost covers the workshop, access to the Talk Cancer online community and regular emails with news, information and tips, plus an opportunity to attend follow-up training.

We also speak at various conferences.

New dates will be posted in January 2017

We want to make sure Talk Cancer training is available anyone who is in a position to talk about cancer with people in their community.

We set up the Talk Cancer bursary to provide a limited number of free places for individual health workers and volunteers, who wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend our workshops.

“The Talk Cancer Bursary helped us to feel more confident to have a conversation with a member of our local community about cancer..” - Staff member, Healthwatch Darlington.

What does it cover?

The Talk Cancer bursary covers the fee to attend either a Talk Cancer or Talk Cancer: Train the Presenter workshop. It can’t be used towards travel or other expenses.

Who can apply?

You can apply for the bursary if you

  • are aged 18 or over
  • have not previously attended the type of Talk Cancer workshop you are applying for
  • have no funding available for this training

If you have previously been to a Talk Cancer workshop, you can still apply for a bursary to attend Talk Cancer: Train the Presenter.

How to apply for a bursary

  1. Choose a date from the list above

To avoid disappointment, try to apply at least four weeks ahead of your chosen workshop date.

  1. Complete an application form providing information about how Talk Cancer training will help you in your role. Your application must be signed by both yourself and a senior representative.

If more than one person from your team is applying, you’ll each need to complete a separate form.
