The London Marriott Business Council is made up of 19 Marriott and Renaissance Hotels across Greater London.

Cancer Research UK have been a charity partner since 2006, with a range of staff fundraising activities raising money to help beat cancer.

Marriott and Renaissance staff have taken part in Race for Life and the London Marathon, as well as bespoke fundraising events in the hotels – with hotels often competing with one another to raise as much as possible!

The money raised through the partnership is used specifically to help fund Professor John Gribben's research at the Experimental Cancer Medical Centre at St Bart's Hospital in London.

Staff have also taken part in a range of volunteering activities, including a Charity Shop Challenge, where staff spent a day in local Cancer Research UK shops competing to increase the profits.

What we have achieved together so far

Since the launch of the partnership in 2006, over £250,000 has been raised through fundraising events and through stock donation to our shops – Marriott and Renaissance Hotels have also donated complimentary stays to Cancer Research UK, which have been used to raise more money through raffles and auctions.

Throughout the partnership, Marriott and Renaissance hotel associates have really engaged with a cause they feel passionate about, with the company making a really positive impact in the local community.
