Our lesson plans

Cancer Research UK's lesson plans were developed with teachers and are curriculum linked, interactive and free to download.

What is cancer? shows GCSE science students how cancer develops (with the help of the animation below) and explores how living a healthy life can cut the risk of developing the disease. This lesson can be easily adapted to a PSHE session on health and lifestyle.

Teachers say:

The lesson plan is so easy to follow – the animation, graphs and other resources are all engaging so you know exactly how to approach it.

Making your mind up - HPV vaccination is a PSHE lesson for 12-13 year olds and can be delivered to either a single-sex group of girls or a mixed-gender group. This discussion-based session gets your students thinking about how they can make decisions about their own healthcare, using the HPV vaccination as an example.

Teachers say:

I like the way this explains about the vaccine and gives pupils the choice; it is about being responsible adults and making important choices.

As a non-science teacher I would feel completely confident to deliver the lesson as the activites, tone, and level of info are so user friendly and flexible.

If you or your students are affected by cancer and want to talk in confidence, call CRUK's information nurses on freephone 0808 800 4040.
