About the Northern Ireland Assembly and Executive

Devolution was restored to the Northern Ireland Assembly on Tuesday 8 May 2007 following the election of a four-party Executive of 12 ministers. The Northern Ireland Assembly is responsible for making and enacting laws on transferred matters, including health, in Northern Ireland. Members (MLAs) meet to debate issues and introduce laws to support the people of Northern Ireland.
