Your tips and stories inclusion policy
The aim of this section is to provide useful tips and information on coping with treatment and other aspects of cancer.
What we can include
We welcome contributions from people with cancer or their families. Examples of useful information include ways of coping with or managing treatment side effects, or strategies for talking about your cancer to close family, children, or work colleagues.
We cover as many cancer types as we can, although this is dictated by the content we receive for this section. We particularly welcome content about less common cancers. We don’t censor the nature of the contributions – they don’t all have to be positive or describing success stories. What not to do can also be helpful to others.
What we can't include
For editorial reasons, we cannot accept books or manuscripts (published or unpublished). We aim for a maximum length of 500 words and reserve the right to edit contributions.
In order to make space for new contributions, we remove older contributions from the site periodically. We retain contributions in an off line archive in case the contributor would like a record of it.
The aim of this section is to be supportive to people recently diagnosed or entering a new phase of their disease. For this reason, we no longer accept pieces purely in memory of those who have died. These are better placed on the Cancer Research UK ‘Donate in Memory’ site.
We cannot put patients in touch with each other. If you are interested in being in contact with people in a similar situation Cancer Chat – the Cancer Research UK patient information forum – is more appropriate.
