Carcinoid tests in general

Most people begin by seeing their family doctor. Your GP will examine you, and ask about your general health and your symptoms.

Your GP may arrange for you to have more tests and X-rays at a hospital. You may need to see a specialist first. The type of specialist you see will depend on the symptoms your carcinoid is causing. If you have symptoms of bowel or stomach problems you will see a gastroenterologist or a gastro-intestinal surgeon. If you have symptoms related to your breathing, you will see a doctor who specialises in lung diseases (a chest or respiratory physician).

Tests at the hospital

The specialist will ask about your medical history and symptoms, and examine you again. Your specialist will also arrange any tests that you need. Again, these will depend on your symptoms. We have information about
