After having surgery for breast cancer, it is likely that you will have drains.
This involves a pipe or cannula, coming from your armpit to drain off lymph gland fluids where some or all your lymph glands have been removed.
You may have one coming from the area from which your cancer has been removed (boob area). Although these are not uncomfortable, they’re a bloody nuisance! The boob tube will be probably removed within 2 or 3 days of surgery. The one from under the arm can take up to a week.
My tip for mobility is to put the OFFENSIVE PLASTIC BOTTLE into a sock. O.K. girls, I know this sounds weird! Bear with me. Put the bottle deep into the sock, then find yourself a great big nappy pin, or your mum’s favourite brooch, and pin it to the waist of your skirt, or trousers. Hey presto! Hands free!
