My wife is a bubbly 46 year old mother of two daughters. She has always been positive and cheerful and has always had her way in dealing with life and its complications. She has proved that many a time and the most remarkable achievement was in January 2003 when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer.
She put on a brave face while confronting the rigorous treatment schedule of curing the cancer - the mastectomy followed by 6 doses of chemotherapy and then the 25 radiotherapy sessions. She continued with the oral tablets for a year and was later on given the all clear.
She fought bravely and helped other women who were diagnosed with the same disease by lecturing them on the treatment and the follow-ups as well as injecting them with 'stay positive' words and encouragements. To all these women she was a symbol of a never-say-die person.
In February of 2009 she has been diagnosed with breast cancer again and only recently has been operated upon for her second mastectomy. She is still fighting and putting on a brave face. All she needs now is prayers from friends and well wishers to face the cancer for a second time. She is as usual very strong willed and positive and manages to smile. She loves life and wants to live and enjoy life to the fullest.
I know she will win again as I have full confidence in her strength and I trust her that she will stay positive. The battle has just begun but she is well equipped with determination, faith and her indomitable will to shield the spears of cancer targeted at her. She always says: 'You only live once, so why not make the most of it.'
