My dad's throat cancer story
From Wendy Graham in Wrexham
My dad has recently been diagnosed with throat cancer. The tumour is under the tongue. He had a severe earache that resulted in him visiting the doctor. My dad was referred to the local hospital. It was only 6 weeks from diagnosis to treatment. Then the emotional rollacoster began for all the family. Dad always ran the house and children. We are a large family of ten kids ranging from 8 to 34 years old. He loved life and all that it could throw at him.
Currently dad is doing OK and just waiting on results. We have been told that the operation he had was unsuccessful as they couldnt get all the tumour due to its location. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy have shrunk it but dad has been given only a 30% chance of survival, which isn't good but we are all hopeful.
