Can men get breast cancer?

Yes men can get breast cancer. Although there are far, far fewer cases than there are of women getting it. Each year, there are about 370 cases of male breast cancer in the UK. This compares with around 48,410 cases of female breast cancer.

The treatment is much the same as for women. That is, surgery, radiotherapy and sometimes chemotherapy, hormone therapy, or biological therapy (or a combination of these).

Look at the section about breast cancer for more information about breast cancer treatment. There is a page in this section about breast cancer in men.
