Clare's story

Surviving breast cancer

ClareClare was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in 2004 when she was just 34. She underwent two lumpectomy operations before she started a four-month course of chemotherapy and a further course of radiotherapy.

Clare said, "I fell apart when I received the news that I had breast cancer. It's not something you expect to happen at my age. But thanks to incredible support from family, friends and work colleagues, I found the courage to fight the disease and remain positive.

"The experience has made me appreciate my life more and it has also made me a better lawyer because I'm a more compassionate person for having had the disease. Cancer has changed everything. It has changed my life, but in a good way.

"I hope my experience and survival can bring hope and comfort to other women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer."
