Hitting the road for breast cancer research

Cancer survivor Sarah Baldwin with her pink Harley Davidson

Sarah Baldwin, 40, turned her Harley Davidson bike pink to raise £50 000 for breast cancer research after being diagnosed with the disease in July 2007.

Biker and mother-of-four, Sarah, found a lump in her breast while in the bath and went to visit her GP the next day.

She was referred to Exeter RD&E hospital and was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy operation in August 2007 to remove it, and six sessions of chemotherapy that ended in January 2008.

She needed a second operation in February and had several weeks of radiotherapy treatment.

"The treatment and care I have received has been exceptional and am thankful for the huge developments that have already been made" she said.

Sarah unveiled her fantastic pink Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide at the annual Cider Rally organised by the Bridgwater Chapter Harley Owners Group near Weston Super Mare.

"We came up with the idea of painting the bike just after Christmas and we have been working on it since.

"We spent months writing letters, and had a really good response, not just from the venues but from lots of people who have given donations and raffle prizes, including a speedboat trip, bicycles, go-karts and iPods."
