Surviving breast cancer
Lynne Harding, 51, was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2005 when she was 48.
She noticed a lump in her breast while on holiday with her husband Alan and although a mammogram and ultrasound scan did not detect a tumour, a needle biopsy confirmed that Lynne had cancer. She was treated with a lumpectomy followed by radiotherapy and will be taking tamoxifen for five years.
Since Lynne's first meeting with Cancer Research UK in 2005 she has become very much part of Cancer Research UK's fundraising team, volunteering at every given opportunity.
"I feel privileged to be part of this organisation as almost everyone is affected in some way by cancer and to help raise money and awareness is an honour" she said.
Lynne organised her first Pink Ribbon Ball at the Marriott Hotel, Gateshead, in October 2007. This event raised the phenomenal sum of £34,000 and her second ball is to be held at the same venue in 2009.
