"Bobby Moore was an incredible England captain and team player, so it seems fitting to help the charity that was launched in his name after his death, to help others fight bowel cancer. I was shocked to learn that bowel cancer is the second largest cause of cancer death in this country, yet more than eight out of ten cases are treatable if caught early." April 2009 saw the launch of the UK-wide campaign, "There's Moore to know" run in partnership with Team England Footballers' Charity. The campaign featured a series of striking images with stars of the England team, Theo Walcott, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, David James, Micah Richards and Shaun Wright Phillips digitally manipulated to depict anatomical views of the bowel and increase public awareness of the disease. By the end August 2009 it was estimated that 60% of the UK adult population would have seen the campaign at least eight times an incredible triumph helping us to make impressive strides in raising awareness of bowel cancer. The Bobby Moore Fund would like to wish all the players the best of luck for the World Cup qualifiers and thank them for their continued support.
